Usage

It is used as a topping on bread products and as a snack food. Mixes well in salads, casseroles, with tuna or chicken.

There is also sunflower butter which is similar to peanut butter. It has a sweet nutty flavour. Sunflower oil is also very popular.

Medicinal Powers?

In addition to providing linoleic acid (an essential acid), sunflower seeds are also an excellent source of dietary fibre.

Fun Facts

De-hulling is commonly performed by cracking the hull with one's teeth and spitting (discreetly) it out  and keeping the kernel in the mouth to eat it!
