Celery is naturally high in salt and was used in ancient times to help balance the salt level in the diet. As a condiment, it started in 1623 in France.
Caution - Celery Salt has added salt! Indeed it is usually made by mixing salt, ground celery seeds and also dried herbs such as parsley or dill.
Celery Salt is an ingredient of the Bloody Mary Cocktail and the Caesar cocktail.
